"A group of students assembled on the University of Texas at Austin campus to call for an end to the war in Gaza. They did not engage in violence. They did not disrupt classes or occupy administrative buildings. They set up tents on a lawn. They were met with a militarized response, ordered by Governor Abbott, and supported by University administrators. Students and journalists were arrested."

Call me a radical Lefty, but I don’t think an entry-level federal employee should be subject to more stringent ethics rules than Clarence Thomas.

Got through our annual heat pump cleaning in as safe a way as possible, Esp. Important considering the current stratospheric rise in #covid19 in Canada and NS in particular.

3 HEPA filters plus 2 CR boxes running, one in each room where the technician worked, and two more in the adjacent common areas. All windows open throughout, and CO2 at pretty much outdoor levels (420), bit higher in the rooms he worked in.

Made the request ahead of time that the tech needed to be masked, and he showed up with a KN95 on. Quite pleased with that, and that he kept it on (outside as well as in) without it even being brought up. I was masked the whole time too, and kept away from the guy.

Now eating lunch outside and leaving house to air out for the rest of the afternoon.

We don't have anyone in the house unless absolutely necessary, but it is possible to do it in a (hopefully) safe way!

Edit: I recognize the extreme privilege of being able to do this, but also hoping it shows what is possible with planning and effort to stay safe these days.
