You don’t have to MARRY syrup
I found out about Fasnacht from Fallout but it's definitely on my bucket list. Might make a road trip next year- it's a yearly festival brought over by Swiss and German immigrants in the small town of Helvetia, WV. It's on the Saturday before Mardi Gras and it's kind of a cross between a Mardi Gras walking parade and like a mini Oktoberfest. Looks like a lot of fun from what I've seen about it. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/28/us/fasnacht-2022.html
The Fasnacht Festival Returns, One Year After Covid Cancellation

The Fasnacht celebration in Helvetia, W.Va., draws revelers who soak in the Swiss culture — and burn Old Man Winter in effigy.

If you want to know exactly what the police did to Tyre Nichols without watching the video:

“the start of the Tyre Nichols video shows a group of police, for no discernable reason, immediately escalating to violence, threatening and hitting a young man while shouting contradictory orders at him they threaten to tase him if he does not lie down, while he is lying down”

Every streaming service should have a free w/ commercials option. Television and radio have flourished under this model for over a century. I'm a child of the 80s; I'm fine with enduring a commercial break every 10-15 minutes in exchange for free entertainment.
He fried for your sins
I feel like there should've been an Adam West Batman/ Columbo crossover at some point
One hot TV take i have is that Columbo is not actually a great detective but a mediocre detective who benefits heavily from the fact that all his suspects are too stupid to exercise their 4th and 5th amendment rights
"The greatest gift that a woman can give a man is a child" Wrong, the greatest gift is actually a PS5
But here's the thing, it doesn't even really work like that anymore. It's as if the lottery organizers said "let's only sell 10% of our lottery tickets to the general public, and the other 90% will be given away exclusively to the family members of previous winners, for free." Since that 90% is divided up among a much smaller group of people, they have a much better chance at winning. Suddenly, all that work the unknown musician does to improve their chances doesn't count for as much.
Let's say you're a musician- in this analogy doing things like practicing often, honing your craft, working your way up in the local music scene, diligently promoting yourself, making connections with touring artists to get gigs in other cities, and so forth is the equivalent of buying extra lottery tickets to slightly improve your chances of winning, but finding the right combination of circumstances to propel you to mainstream success is still pure luck.
