I don't tend to photograph the #forest at the #goldenhour - particularly when the sun is strong.
That doesn't mean I am not out looking for images at this time of day; it's just that direct sunlight usually adds unwanted complexity to most scenes. The woods are full of chaos & need to be simplified.
Below are some images where the strong golden light did add something extra.
p.s. A big THANK YOU for all of the awesome support on my Groot #tree post.
Today is the 50th anniversary of the last time humans went to the Moon.
Apollo 17, the final mission of the Apollo program and the last time we ventured beyond low Earth orbit, launched from Kennedy Space Center #OTD in 1972.

The astronauts took several photos of Earth that day. A cropped version of one of them, AS17-148-22727, became one of the most famous images produced by the US space program.
The image known as "The Blue Marble" shows Earth from a distance of about 18,000 miles. Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and the South Pole are all visible, as well as parts of the Atlantic and Indian oceans.

High resolution scans of every single photo taken during the Apollo program are available on Flickr via NASA's "Project Apollo Archive."
I'm going to post the link but let me warn you right now it is very easy to lose a couple hours in there.

A very beautiful but extremely windy place to photograph... All looks calm in the photo, but had to battle hard against the black sand constantly blasting us... It gave my whole face a good exfoliation though 🙂
I was suddenly hit hard by a king wave on the shoreline while photographing the ocean here and nearly dragged out to sea but fortunately was rescued by a very fit fellow male photographer who literally saved my life and dragged me back to shore. The force of the extremely strong Atlantic Ocean currents.
"The mountain at #Vestrahorn aka #Stokksnes is one of Iceland’s few Gabbro rock mountains. Dating back 8-11million years, the site was used by the first settlers (Irish) before they were enslaved by Viking invaders (c.860).
As a gesture of goodwill to the Nation of Ireland, it has been suggested that the land be given back to the Irish, but as a National Park where visitors are free to roam as nature intended."
