Context:
I came from a Catholic family but been agnostic since college & married to another agnostically raised spouse. We are raising our kid that way too.
The past year he’s been introduced to the concept of God/gods, churches/temples/mosques, and Jesus — through school, cousins, and friends. At home we discuss how different folks from different places and backgrounds may have different gods and places/activities that are sacred to them. He’s been curious about Jesus because of Christmas.

one problem with people saying that older dystopian novels predicted the future is that it disregards that the problems they tackle were also relevant at the time the novel was written. we just haven't fixed anything and the problems have compounded. as expected.
it worries me to imply that these problems are new and not a culmination of decades worth of compounding legislation and attitudes.
