70 tokens a second with GPT4All serves my needs and of course all else is simply hundreds of tabs in text editors, browsers and such. Just wanted the overhead clearance.
A 980Ti is not the millstone you might think. That was a balanced system back in 2014 with a 4790K + 32GB of RAM and lasted this long.
I went back to win 10 1803 + simplewall and O&O Shut Up installed with cable out. It's no longer my main OS but 'apps'.
Been stalling, procrastination, was going 14900/128GB/4090. It's probably my last machine and I'm coming off a i7 4790K/32GB/980Ti.
Anyway, looking five years down the road and having been a survivor of the Pentium I opted out and went AMD 9950X/92GB/4070 with at least two generations of upgrades likely.
Got it built because old/eyes/fumble fingers/instant replacement while burning in and so on. No OS installed.
So Arch and Win10 (neutered).

I do not think Trump or Musk was talking at their intellectual level but instead addressing the herd, who seems to me to now be genpop.
I'm hesitant to comment but regulatory capture, insightful commentary and debate/dissent was certainly demonstrated during COVID.
Thousands seems such a small number when compared to the hundreds of millions affected around the world.
I think it all depends where you were standing when it started as well as a need to define that point.
