Are the proverbial chickens coming home to roost?

Grateful to the Castle Island Association for running tours of Fort Independence all summer long, thru Columbus Day. Special thanks today to Steve Sr. for his kindness and wisdom, teaching the history of this place… originally a British fort predating the American Revolution. 🙏🏼

My Globe comment on the approval of Dorchester Bay City. 👇🏽 It's about our low aspirations.

Good to know Boston's power brokers feel less slighted this month. Maybe they can regroup and plan a civic destination in Seaport, Suffolk Downs or DBC. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2023/09/14/business/dorchester-bay-city-approved-bpda/

Dorchester Bay City project: BPDA approval secured

The $5 billion, 21-building mixed-use project has long been in the works, with developers envisioning a climate-resilient mini-city on the site of the former Bayside Expo Center.

My Globe comment below regards "Wu unveils plans to revamp Boston’s decades-old rules for what can be built where.” Also here, a terrific Globe comment by BostonMassMark, a former BPDA/BRA employee. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2023/09/13/business/boston-zoning-code-wu-revamp/

A sea change on managed retreat? - CommonWealth Magazine

AS WATERS RISE, coastal residents are increasingly facing a difficult choice: try to relocate in a difficult housing market and take losses on their homes, or get comfortable with a future where there may be multiple feet of water in their living rooms.  “Eventually people are going to move, either of their own volition or(...)

"Mass. needs a coastal resiliency action plan to mitigate climate change. Now."

"The Commonwealth must act by establishing a Boston Harbor Coastal Resiliency Authority that has an MWRA organizational and governance structure."

Opinion by Bill Golden, whose lawsuit triggered the cleanup of Boston Harbor back in the 1980s.

Boston Harbor climate change planning must happen now

The Commonwealth must act now by establishing a Boston Harbor Coastal Resiliency Authority that has a MWRA organizational and governance structure.

The Rose Kennedy Greenway is under-appreciated IMHO.

I’m not debating whether or not vehicular infrastructure should’ve been moved below grade or not.

I’m simply in awe of the Conservancy’s work, just as I am FOPG. We are fortunate. ❤️
