Downtown this week, a celebration of avarice, hollow as the day is long.

I’ll stand alone, recalling unfulfilled commitments (stay tuned); a withheld comp in City Council testimony; and my Public Records Request revealing relief of remaining obligations in a withheld Agreement.

Are the proverbial chickens coming home to roost?

@RonNewman @universalhub Hi Ron, I had lunch earlier this month with Lisa and Dan, old friends. The LED network was past its prime and was failing at a number of locations. They moved to Needham and maintenance was difficult. They do have a new set of networked lights but would have to coordinate installation, maintenance and funding of same with the City of Boston… they’re not sure that will happen.
Starry Night, a public art treasure installed under the A Street bridge by Fort Point artist/residents Lisa M. Greenfield and Daniel J. Van Ackere, has been removed after a 13+ year run. 🔥❤️💯 https://greenfield-studio.com/section/137572-Starry%20Night%20I.html… @universalhub

Grateful to the Castle Island Association for running tours of Fort Independence all summer long, thru Columbus Day. Special thanks today to Steve Sr. for his kindness and wisdom, teaching the history of this place… originally a British fort predating the American Revolution. 🙏🏼

Good to know Boston's power brokers feel less slighted this month. Maybe they can regroup and plan a civic destination in Seaport, Suffolk Downs or DBC. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2023/09/14/business/dorchester-bay-city-approved-bpda/

Dorchester Bay City project: BPDA approval secured

The $5 billion, 21-building mixed-use project has long been in the works, with developers envisioning a climate-resilient mini-city on the site of the former Bayside Expo Center.

Boston zoning code to be updated

Boston's nearly 4,000-page zoning code will get an update for the first time in nearly six decades, the mayor said Wednesday.

A sea change on managed retreat? - CommonWealth Magazine

AS WATERS RISE, coastal residents are increasingly facing a difficult choice: try to relocate in a difficult housing market and take losses on their homes, or get comfortable with a future where there may be multiple feet of water in their living rooms.  “Eventually people are going to move, either of their own volition or(...)
