If you donât yet have an account on Mastodon, make one. There is a separate tutorial for this.
Make sure youâve added a bio and profile pic to your profile.
Add tags to your bio to help people find you based on shared interests.
Make an introductory post (use tags!) and pin it to your bio.
Change your Twitter display name to your Mastodon @[email protected]
How do I participate?During the event, try to use Mastodon as much as possible. Do the same things there that youâd normally do on Twitter. If you want to keep posting on Twitter during the event, please try to crosspost on Mastodon.Should I do something specific?Letâs build up those connections and find each other! The following things will help:
Join Izzy Canyon group @[email protected] is a separate tutorial for this.
Boost posts. There is no algorithm, so boosting is the only thing that makes posts circulate. If you see something youâd want others to see too, boost it.
Follow others. This puts posts on your Home timeline and helps you see the sort of stuff you want to see.
Follow tags. This puts posts with those tags on your Home timeline. #IzzyCanyon is a good one to start with, as is #CanyonConOnMastodon
Tag your posts. Mastodonâs search doesnât find posts based on plain words used in them, it only works on tags. Tagging helps others find interesting stuff.
