Sci-fi aficionado, ๐Ÿ“ท by passion, I like snorkeling, long walks, cooking, good ๐Ÿ“š, ๐ŸŽž๏ธ, ๐Ÿ˜บ๐Ÿˆ, and nice conversations on way too many topics.

๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿ’ป, in particular iOS, but been developing for a loooong time with probably too many languages and technologies.

But yeah, nurse. And a nice white shirt with looooong arms that are tied behind the back.

The text "Line Height" calculation on iOS/Mac is THE rocket science ๐Ÿ”ฌ

There is literally one public method that can calculate it right: `NSLayoutManager.defaultLineHeight(for:)`. The logic behind it does not consistently match CoreText
CTLine, CTFramesetter, or a plain (ascent + descent + leading) calculation ๐Ÿฟ

Literal rocket science build on top of years of assumptions, mistakes, historic use. why? becasue reasons. magic delta values depends on the font name/style/size.

You know there's something wrong with US politics when NASA is forced to communicate in Imperial measurements.

"Orionโ€™s main engine provides up to 6,000 pounds of thrust, enough to accelerate a car from 0 to 60 mph in about 2.7 seconds. At the time of the burn, Orionโ€™s mass was 58,000 pounds and burned approximately 1,000 pounds of fuel during the firing."

So, it turns out the German implementation of eIDAS (electronic ID wallet for e.g. age attestation) will require an Apple/Google account to function

Absolutely pathetic

Good work everyone. We are not a whole continent with some of the brightest minds and universities to figure out how to do it decoupled from private companies.

We are a continent of bureaucratic people with knowledge only of laws and administration.

We need a Nuremberg 2.0.

On the other side: โ€œTake-Two fires its AI department to cut costsโ€

Makes you wonder if that might be a thing. Costs of token usage start to exceed salaries. Is it worth it if you can just blast away thousands of dollars with a wrong prompt (or stupid idea)?

This is someting I wish I'd realized a lot sooner in life.
