Today WWDC 2024 begins. I am a little sad not to be in Cupertino today, as twenty years ago was my first WWDC in San Francisco (I had only visited Apple Developer Conferences in Germany before).

Happy Memories

If you are following WWDC or are even on location, say Hi 👋

Please boost for reach, because my Apple bubble is still not strong enough on Mastodon. And let me know your best tricks how to find content on this non algorithmic timeline

@below Hi!
Serious question - should I be on Threads or here to get back into this short form stuff? Whichever platform @Cldfire responds on first is likely the right one.
4:30am: Looks like I'm going to need some more coffee

@rjbs Haha! Yes, I've never thought about that, but now I'm considering some of the random people sharing activity with me, and that probably should be a fear of mine too.

My number one feedback item remains the ability to customize your activity goals on some sort of schedule. I like to go hard when I work out and set high goals, but that doesn't align well with any sort of rest schedule.

@rjbs “You call this a feature request?” /s
I completely agree that Casey's criticism has the ability to attract more attention than you or I could, but wouldn't you want it to be considered based on its merit and not disregarded due to negativity? @siracusa is a perfect example of being able to deliver some of the most incredibly insightful feedback I've heard without being mean, whether it's about an indie app or something put out by a larger company. Leadership tend to be people too. 😉 So I'm not sure if the intended target makes a difference. My concern is not the criticism itself, but the manner in which it is conveyed. While an edgy tone might seem entertaining, it's counterproductive and often overshadows the essence of the feedback with negativity. I'm speaking broadly about the increasing negativity I've observed over the last couple of years, but my perspective may be skewed by listening to the unedited versions of ATP. (2/3)
@mitchchn @roustem @caseyliss @havn I can say with 100% certainty that some developers feel Casey's criticism targets them personally, although I don't share this perception. I'm also not a target of it. However, knowing this and being a Casey fan is why I'm speaking up. I'm not joining the debate on the decisions that were made; I simply wanted to let someone I respect know they are coming across as a bully (in my opinion), which we already have plenty of in tech. Also, shout-out to @letsencrypt for dramatically changing the security landscape of the Web for the better over the years.

Rarely is there an example of a project so effective and so directly improving everyone's lives, while at the same time keeping the original engineering mindset and just Doing Stuff Right™ humbly in the background.

Next November it will have been exactly a decade since LE started. We all owe them a huge 10th birthday party.
