@jaffathecake Molly Holzschlag used to rant about how no web "standards" really earned the name, compared to standards in other industries, because there was no mechanism to enforce consistent & complete implementation of the specification (which was the term she preferred).

Like, the USB consortium has trademark enforcement that is supposed to ensure that any one claiming to meet a certain USB standard actually implements all its details. You can't just pick & choose which parts to include.
