France is only 20% smaller than Germany population wise, but also counting daily journeys it's the same: 24 Million per day on German railways, compared to 5 million in France. The French system looks fancy, but in matter of capacity and density of service it's not the same league as German railways, no matter how fast the TGVs from and to Paris are.

The views from the line are absolutely stunning and justify it as a top destination from tourists from all the world - and it's recently even included in the #Interrail #Eurrail passes, at least between Lauterbrunnen and Wengen.

The #Wengeralpbahn is one of the steepest conventional #rackrailways in #switzerland with slopes up to 180 ‰ - it's fascinating to see how fast the small yellow trains climb up from Lauterbrunnen to the little town of Wengen at this steep angle!
