Shit escalated today, and I need a new home ASAP. If you have any recommendations please let me know. I love dot art, but they're so heavy handed with blocks (which I respect) that they block a few instances I want to interact with so I can't go there.

I'm looking for a new Mastodon server to join. One that will not federate with Meta. Bonus points if it's a community that is oriented towards my interests, which are varied:

- Art: Painting, sketching, etc.
- Nature: Bird watching, nature photography, etc.
- Synthesizers
- Woodworking
- Tech savvy, with a critical eye towards Big Tech, AI, and Crypto(currency)

If you know of a server that would be a good fit please let me know, I'm trying to move my account before Meta launches their app.

I'm sitting here watching this "Meta had an NDAed meeting with big fedi devs/admins" stuff shaking my head because I was one of the people who woulda been in the NDAed meetings when Meta, Google, and AOL did this exact same fucking thing to XMPP.

They're not even altering their playbook! This is EXACTLY how they "joined" XMPP then squashed it 2 years later.

EXACTLY. How can you be so gullible??
Meta/FB, whatever they call themselves, has a definitive history of behavior on the web. We know what they will do because they've done it repeatedly.

The idea that we need to have a meeting to confirm those intentions falls flat for me because we
know what they are going to do, so any information disseminated under an NDA is to protect them.

It is naive to assume they will magically change when they come to the fedi.

Because if that had that intention, they wouldn't be hiding behind a non-disclosure.
I'm all for #DefederateMeta, but have we also considered #DefenestrateMeta?

I spent a good bit of yesterday spinning up a blog, and writing a blog post about #DefederateMeta. A few hours into working on the blog my thread from a week ago blew up and had a TON of discussion, which is not something I ever expected to happen.

My new blog post is on the same topic, but expands upon it a little further, and also includes a bit of background for those that may not be familiar with what Meta's plans are.

Defederate Meta — Cache Rules

After speaking with my co-admin, I've signed the Anti-Meta Fedi Pact (https://fedipact.online). Car Free dot City will not federate with any instance operated by Meta/Facebook.

As the mods of tech.lgbt put it: "There is over a decade of precedent that Facebook will not have users' best interests as their guiding principle but rather profit margins, if it joins the Fediverse." (https://tech.lgbt/@mods/110567092695993475) #FediBlockMeta #FediAdmin #meta #project92

🖤 ANTI-META FEDI PACT 🖤

Gargon: I think we should talk to the tornado about moving into the storm shelter

We, the moderation and administration of tech.lgbt, are signing the Anti-Meta Fedi Pact in fellowship with our peer communities. (https://vantaa.black/pact)

There is over a decade of precedent that Facebook will not have users' best interests as their guiding principle but rather profit margins, if it joins the Fediverse.

We at tech.lgbt have long held the belief that corporation owned instances are a threat to the core of the Fediverse: freedom for users to be themselves and to be a part of their communities. The 2010s saw the loss of online freedom when the majority of the Web was consolidated into a few destinations, and Facebook entering here could lead us back to centralization. Furthermore, NDAs for server admins will constrain our sovereignty online by binding us legally from disrupting their business.

We are not products. We are people, and we do not welcome Facebook in this space.
