I was on kbin, but the mobile "version" is meh to use and often times things just don't register and most of the communities I'm in are either on lemmy.world or Lemmy.ml

So the TUC and ONS made a report on UKs inflation stating it's basically caused by the 1% gaining more wealth and spending it more while the 99% gets shafted. It's like the system is bad and failing most people

My city has a Clean Air Zone that only applies to commercial vehicles (trucks, buses, taxis etc) and since its implementation taxis have been protesting, the council is offering a £4,500 rebate towards a newer vehicle.

The council also released the stats on how the air quality has impacted the people of the city in response to the protests.

Me and my partner have decided at the next protest we are gonna hold signs on the side of the road as the 100 taxis drive by.

What I find funny living in a UK city is seeing people protesting against a 15 min city claiming the whole idea is like confining people to boxes because they oppose low emission zones when they already live in a 15 min city....most if not all European cities are walkable and have been since their creation, it's not a new concept.

As the UK is hit with a heatwave we really need to band together to mitigate future climate damage.

I haven't been able to sleep because I can't bring the house down below 28C with 50% humidity even at night because so much heat gets retained and I can't afford to buy a "portable" air con unit. This level of heat is not sustainable for human health at all.
