#statistics thought of the day: Replacing Wilcoxon tests with proportional odds semiparametric ordinal logistic regression analysis handles extreme ties in the data, all the way to Y being binary (PO model reduces to ordinary binary logistic regression) https://hbiostat.org/ordinal

Ditto! (On my Ubuntu 23.04 setup.)

One of my faves (as tweeted) is to run `apt` via `wajig` (by our R friend Graham Williams) which keeps state so `wajig update; wajig new` gives you a nice concise summary of all those incredible gifts added since the last time you ran it: a mini CRANberries.

Running this daily is such a darn good resource as you say -- I even call it a privilege. Especially give how fast and easy and reliable it is.

#rstats rms package has a major update: Complete anova table of likelihood ratio tests is automatic and fast, and LR tests are implemented with multiple imputation. https://hbiostat.org/R/rms #rmscourse

The #rstats Hmisc package has another major update. One of the biggest changes is new output options for describe() including interactive sparklines for spike histograms. http://hbiostat.org/R/Hmisc

For an introduction to R/RStudio & an efficient workflow taking advantage of 32 years of R/S experience, to learn about the rms package, or to enhance regression skills to be ready for the RMS 4-day course, take the Pre-RMS course May 12 https://hbiostat.org/doc/rms/1day.html #rstats #rmscourse

Biostatistics for Biomedical Research has a new section showing how to compute the sample size needed to characterize an entire distribution (e.g., all its quantiles). http://hbiostat.org/bbr/nonpar.html#sec-nonpar-ecdf #bbrcourse @VUMCbiostat #statistics #biostatistics

Registration still open:4-day Regression Modeling Strategies course, covering modern methods for developing/validating predictive models, comparing w/machine learning.. If you want an introduction to R/RStudio and to a comprehensive R workflow that fosters reproducible statistical reporting, to learn about the R rms (regression modeling strategies) package, or to enhance your regression analysis skills to be more ready for the RMS 4-day course, consider taking the Pre-RMS 1-day course on May 12. https://hbiostat.org/doc/rms/1day.html #rstats #rmscourse

I've recently had to go back to #RMarkdown, as the #QuartoPub JSS template needs a bit more time in the oven (doesn't handle code blocks correctly yet), and: wow, I didn't realize just _how much_ more fluid Quarto is until I suddenly can't use it

It's all the little things: no more "Section \@ref(sec-whatever)", just write "@sec-whatever" as if it were a citation. The Quarto team has done such a good job of making things feel more natural -- so good I didn't even notice it before
