Hello Friends! I am a Quaker living on Ngunnawal and Ngambri country in Canberra, Australia. I maintain the Canberra and Region Quakers account (@CanberraRegionQuakers). This is account is for engaging in conversations in a personal capacity. 🏳️‍🌈🇦🇺

What can a #Quaker meeting accomplish by loosening the reins of process in a way that values Friends' time and timeliness as well as their discernment? Kat Griffith discusses how her yearly meeting formed a rapid response team to address pressing concerns.

Shout it from the rooftops: Colman Domingo's portrayal of civil-rights warrior Bayard Rustin in "Rustin," new on Netflix, is ELECTRIFYING, in part because he's so gay, which is a heroic act of unerasure. If you feel poisoned by MAGA, this film is the antidote!
I have been reading about the Quietist period of Quakerism. I increasingly feel like not only has this period been unfairly dismissed and judged, I’m kind of sensing I might even have strong Quietist tendencies myself. 😯 #Quakers

I honestly *love* this invitation to try waiting worship in The Light on the Candlestick (1662/63) which basically says: “Be as sceptical as you like, just give it a try. If it fails, you’ve lost just a little time. If it succeeds, you’ll have gained the most valuable thing ever”. #Quakers @quakers https://archive.org/details/cu31924029464181/page/444/mode/2up

New York #Quakers' Spark magazine has an issue on the peace testimony. I need to work my way through but Nadine Hoover's "Peace is Possible," Joseph Olejak's "Peace Witness Fatigue," and Don Badgley's "Peace Be with You" look intriguing.

Quaker fiction returns to Friends Journal

You don’t have to understand humanity to make a billion dollars. In fact, it’s probably a hindrance.
I’ve been spending time on and off with the book of Ecclesiastes over the past year. It is an amazing and surprising book—a meditation on mortality that says the quiet bit out loud. For me, it has been deeply liberating and humbling. I’d love to know how others have related to its messages. #Quakers @quakers
