she/her asexual.
not good at many things.

Abled people find it hard to believe how many people are actually disabled, vulnerable, mentally ill, or have chronic pain and impairment that requires ongoing medication or other treatment because they think of themselves as "normal" and "the default" and assume other people are faking.

It's a pretty common story, the same as every other dominant group looking askance at the marginalized and asking why they can't just bootstrap themselves out of the problem.

Even as they make it worse.

Aw yeah ban teens from social media but make it legal for them to work the night shift in the cold chopping room at the meat-chopping factory.

These kids will hate us all forever and we will deserve it.

The active shooter drills, failing to protect trans teens, taking their damn phones, burning their books and sending them to the factory. Fail fail fail fail fail.

pro tip: it's not about the money. It never is.
"Means testing" is about order

"Adopting rightwing policies on issues such as immigration and the economy does not help centre-left parties win votes, according to new analysis of European electoral and polling data."

"..the analysis shows that centre-left parties promising, for example, to be tough on immigration or public spending are unlikely to attract potential voters on the right, and risk alienating existing progressive supporters."

Will they cut this shit then?

UK teachers vow to support trans students in defiance of new guidance - LGBTQ Nation

"We'll use whatever pronouns the kid wants us to. The Tories can shove it."

LGBTQ Nation

Because #Substack doesn't allow sex workers to post anything "pornographic" means they've decided that there absolutely is a line that cannot be crossed on their platform and they have now said OUT LOUD that literal Nazis do not cross that line.

Un-fucking-believable.

"Just stop using YouTube instead of waging an ad blocker blocker war and use other services"

Okay. What services? Peertube? A network with an amount of traffic that is a rounding error compared to YouTube's and has no monetization strategy?

Nebula? The video streaming service that is invite only and which sources new talent to invite specifically from YouTube? The service that has set up a model where it is dependent on YouTube and can only really survive if YT is thriving?

Vimeo? The site that has sent creators of popular videos bills of thousands of dollars for "taking up too much bandwidth?"

Which video streaming service is viable for new and unknown video makers building an audience and established ones who do it for a living and everyone in between? You can't answer that question because *no such service currently exists*

Trans student in Texas kicked out of lead role in high school musical

A transgender student in Texas lost a leading role in his high school’s upcoming musical due to a new policy established by the school’s administration. Sherman High School senior Max Hightower landed the lead role in “Oklahoma!” last month, his father, Phillip Hightower, told local CBS affiliate KXII. Then the principal called to inform him…

“Extremism is the promotion or advancement of any ideology which aims to overturn or undermine the UK’s system of parliamentary democracy, its institutions and values.”
Of course, there's no way a government with malicious intent would ever exploit the vagueness of that definition, is there? https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/nov/04/plans-to-redefine-extremism-would-include-undermining-uk-values
