The internet is a series of tubes, and otter.tube is one of them! @lain says hello from the ocean 🐚, let's wave back!
Yet more details of Steve Jobs being an absolutely terrible piece of shit have emerged from his daughter's autobiography and one thing that strikes me is that he really did have armies of enablers throughout his entire career.
Think about who you know who's like this and promise yourself now that you won't let them get ahead, that you'll elevate people who are kind instead. The "asshole genius" is a social hack that enables assholes, don't let it work on you.
Closely related: I hold the concept of a "genius" in extremely low esteem. Just look at how seldom it's applied to women in general, even women like say Bjork who fit the pattern 100% but are unapologetically feminine.
"Genius" is an amplifying word and we should pay close attention to the social machinery around that amplification, how it works, who operates it, and who benefits.

This is a living room concept by Alex Harris. I love these types of isometric views. There's an old-school computer on the desk and that's especially endearing

The screen actually shows the "Welcome to Windows" popup when you first run Windows 98

An excellent article by Frank Pasquale, setting algorithmic accountability in a broader frame.

"The dispute over how to reform or restrict algorithms is rooted in a conflict over to whom algorithmic processes should be accountable." Is it to "a community of engineers and technocrats" (implying more comprehensive data collection to produce less biased algorithms) or the general public?
