A hearty "vielen Dank" to @ralf for being a wonderful host to this Fediverse newbie since last Fall (and to many other folks for much longer). All the best to you, Ralf, and anyone who helped you run this instance as long as you did. 🙏

I’ve been thinking about a way to explain to non-Black folx why what has been happening on Bluesky [and has happened here] related to anti-Blackness is not only harmful to us but ALSO a warning for you & the only thing I can come up with is what I’ve ALWAYS said…the path to targeting “others” BEGINS with anti-Blackness

A majority of responses are women saying, "okay, but what if no one listens to me and agrees that these are big deals we should treat?" 🫠#womenshealth #periods

The current widespread hatred of being empathetic and kind to others who are different from you (aka “woke”) seems in big part led by rich white supremacists and misogynists on TV and radio.

It’s also about fear of personal change. Some people get stuck. They have a sense of their own situated politeness and appropriateness (real or imagined) and don’t want to hear that they have been unintentionally offensive. They don’t even want to examine how others might see them. They cling to their POV.

"This is about how much money both of us have . . . theoretically." 😂😭😂

"If [the report] has the numbers they were hoping for, they’ll put out press releases and do cable news hits. Americans will see it used by anti-abortion activists everywhere, despite the fact that it’s manufactured data. If the report isn’t quite as hefty as Republicans wanted, we’ll either hear nothing about it at all, or the state will start to make examples out of institutions they think didn’t follow the law correctly." #reproductivejustice

Have you ever thought about why there aren't AI tax prep companies coming out of the woodwork? Perfect application: drudgery! Legible rules! Expensive human experts!

It's because they (rightly) expect that enough of their customers would get in trouble from bad advice that they'd be sued out of existence, if not indicted themselves.

That's how it should be with all AI apps. Be accountable for what you claim your model does, or don't ship it.
