I have to go to federal court on Thursday in person(!) for the first time in… 5-ish years(?) and I donated all my suits to Dress for Success during the pandemic when I became Product Counsel and thought “ha! I’m never gonna need these!” which means…
I have to go to Nordstrom tomorrow and hope they have theory in stock in my size and probably buy something black and boring for way too much money that I will eventually donate to Dress for Success again.

@Tupp_ed I believe you're correct. There are also other family law-adjacent departments there: juvenile delinquency, guardianship, mental fitness. because of the subject matter, that courthouse tends to be a bit chaotic.
but no, this kind of approach isn't typical in the US but because New York is so big and dense (and litigious!), there may be entire buildings devoted to one specific kind of case.
