I think the artist wrote "banjaxed by" when they meant to write "a primary cause of"; maybe they just ran out of space?
so... after many years, I've gone back to playing nethack. One feature I recall from my youth is that you can pick up a cockatrice corpse (if you're wearing gloves) and start bashing things with it as a weapon, turning them into stone.
I just did that.
In nethack, there are several kinds of golems; straw, flesh, clay, etc.
I hit a flesh golem with a cockatrice just now it turned to stone... as a stone golem... and then proceeded to continue beating on me with its improved stats.
Who knew?
