I used to say every kid should have a paper route at least once but those don't exist any more, I guess.
So now every kid needs to work a register, food service or both when they're young. Brutal, exhausting, thankless work.
I have honestly have flashbacks & consequently (& compulsively) tip well.

Another reason why I like running my own instance -- I won't sell myself out... Or would I?

Here’s an idea for Rust programmers: How about instead of using cargo bullshit, supply packages or binaries for end users - especially if you’re creating them for platforms like windows/mac/bsd already.
I shouldn’t have to go searching online for an error to find out it’s a rust toolchain issue I have NFI how to fix because you know, I only installed rust to compile this thing that I want to fucking use.
Yes, I am grumpy. If we apparently want more people to use linux, stop gatekeeping (whether deliberate or not) and supply shit properly. Even better, get it in repo’s. Like we used to. If you can make binaries for 3 other platforms, whats a few more. It used be a deb was common as mud. And fuck you canonical for making snaps show up in every fucking search for how to install something on debian via apt install snapd - get fucked.
What a joke.
Sorry, but not really.
