Both parties have held the debt ceiling hostage as a political tool. For example, in 2011, the Republicans did it. But in 2013, the Republicans did it. On the other hand, this year it is the Republicans who are doing it.

As a secondary school teacher I use the idea of 'showing not telling ' to get the younger students to focus on inference. Often in schools we teach simple, easy to grasp 'rules' which can be broken later, when they have the skills to see when and when not to abide by them. It's once they start breaking the 'rules' though that teaching gets more complex- oh to stop them using so many fragments in their prose...
@gme I need to ferret this out... I wonder if it goes any way to describe the 'antheads' referred to by some characters.
Musk has used "Vox populi, Vox Dei" to justify reinstating Trump on #Twiiter. But the quote is from a letter from Alcuin to the Emporer Charlemagne urging him to resist such ideas, "Nec audiendi qui solent dicere, Vox populi, vox Dei, quum tumultuositas vulgi semper insaniae proxima sit." Which translates as "And do not listen to those who keep saying, 'The voice of the people is the voice of God', because the tumult of the crowd is always close to madness."
I've just joined Mastodon. It'll take a while to weed out the Trolls and the BOTS! Thank you to all followers! I'll see how it goes with Twitter for now! This account is at present my backup to Twitter!
Thanks all.
@tomw I had to google it...

Probably not going to talk about this on Twitter (good lord that site is toxic) but it really does suck that the world’s richest man had a whim and now suddenly people who rely on it for income just… can’t anymore.

Books don’t actually pay that well, but I was able to cut down to 4 days at my day job, 1 day to write books (something I’m proud of!) but looking at followers drop off, I think that’s now just gone.

This was a fun first toot huh
