So when Trump decides to go get Greenland he’s just going to fly in and kidnap our prime minister. Great. You have a unscrupulous and clinically insane idiot elected as your president and he wants to own the world. I have absolutely no trust in any of you Americans whether you are pronounced MAGA or if you “didn’t vote for the guy”: Your elected president is a megalomaniac dictator and it’s your fucking responsibility to stop him.
I think I know what's coming in Windows 12, and you're not going to like it

Commentary: Windows 10 is dead. Windows 12 will be here before you know it. So, what can we expect? Spoiler: It will be very annoying.

ZDNET

My latest at ZDNET:

"These days, navigating the Windows Insider program is like stumbling through a maze built inside a house of mirrors. That feature that was documented in the release notes for the latest build? It will come to your PC one of these days, but who knows when?"

The Windows Insider Program is a confusing mess

The Insider Program was a game-changer for Windows users. What went wrong?

@AAKL I have passed along the feedback to management (I have zero control over those elements).

I will add that Edge in Strict Tracking Prevention mode makes the site much more readable and stops the videos. I presume most ad blockers would do the same.

at some point you'd think we would develop some kind of cultural immune response to being endlessly trolled by some of the dimmest, least remarkable people imaginable
@mathowie You set a calendar reminder for every three months, six months, whatever, and you change the batteries. BEFORE they die.

Windows 7 is skyrocketing in popularity and I am pretty sure I found the reason: iOS 26.

Confused? I can explain.

Windows 7 is surging and people are ditching their iPhones - if you believe these charts

If you trust Statcounter's data, tens of millions of people ditched their iPhones last month and switched to Windows 7. LOL, no, they didn't. Here's what I think really happened.

ZDNET

"In more than three decades of observing what Redmond says and does, I have never seen Microsoft so aloof, out of touch, and lacking in empathy as it is in 2025."

https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-has-lost-its-way/

Microsoft has lost its way

Microsoft's CEO loves to talk about 'empathy.' But everything that is coming out of Redmond these days is perilously close to turning the company into the Borg.

Anyway, I found out today I will be giving a presentation on the transition to Windows 11 at SpiceWorld in Austin this November, so come on down and say hi if you're there.
@flargh @cloudthethings Plenty of time to sleep when we're dead. (Says the guy who turns 70 in a few weeks and is looking at an increasingly packed live music calendar for the next year.)
