Wirecutter: Reviews for the Real World

Back before going wireless, I learned that the sweet spot for me was to get entry-level buds from the likes of Sony or Marley and then be ready to replace them as the wire inevitably got damaged by getting caught on something. Since switching to wireless buds that problem is 100% solved, and the sound quality is much better. (I have other frustrations with wireless buds but sound quality and damaged cables are not on the list!)

Anyway, enjoy your wired headphones, kids!

Wired headphone sales are exploding. What's with the Bluetooth backlash?

"Many companies admit they frame layoffs or hiring slowdowns as AI-driven because it plays better with stakeholders than saying the real reason is financial constraints. Nearly 6 in 10 companies report doing this, including 17% that claim to do it exactly, and 42% that say they do it somewhat." The problem with following Threads accounts here on Mastodon is that the people there are writing for Threads, which is a very different vibe and context than Mastodon.

Writing for the algorithm first is very different than writing for people first.

It's sad that kids today don't know the joy of defragging a hard drive or degaussing a monitor. Maybe it's why games were better back then.
This time of year, try to remember:

A rich life has nothing to do with money.⁣

To be clear, I want to hear about people who are critical of or against AI, but tell me about how you’re getting on. The ranting, fist-shaking, posturing, and shaming I can do without.
