#Writer, #math #teacher (also @MathWithAvrila), plays with string (mostly #crochet, also #knit, #weave). Unabashedly #neurodivergent. She/her in STEM, i.e., had pronouns before people got offended by them.

Sometimes #justice means the same rules apply to everyone; sometimes it means trying to repair damage from when they didn't.

Not advocating for rules against buying Bird Hell Site, but wanting to should trigger a psych eval.

BTW I should be working on my thesis, but I'm installing LaTeX on my desktop while home internet service is up bc it's been flaky (and @overleaf is great but not from my phone) and I accidentally picked the kitchen sink option, so... I've got time.
TFW just before the end of row n you find a mistake in row n-1 😭 #CrochetProblems
Gonna be a cardigan when it grows up #crochet
So with evidence mounting that AI will just make things up rather than admit it doesn't know, I think it's safe to use male pronouns.
"Ah," the robot said, "now I understand."
"Understand what?"
"The concept of 'uncanny valley', where something is subtly wrong, unnatural, but you can't pinpoint why. I've experienced that now."
"Oh? How?"
"I talked to ChatGPT."

Academic pet peeve: if all the chapters of a book are available for me to download as PDFs via my university library, why can’t they save me the effort and allow me to download the whole book as one pdf with one click?. #histodons #academia #books #bookstodon #publishing #AcademicPublishing

Hello mathematicians, puzzlers, and other curious people!

It's just about #BackToSchool time, so I'll be posting study advice, based on my experience as a teacher and student. Repost to help your followers and follow to make sure you don't miss any.

Study tip #1: STUDYING REQUIRES TIME

Make appointments with yourself in your planner (book or app, whichever you prefer -- if you don't know what you prefer, just *try something*) to study.

Use the 2:1 ratio to know how much to study: 2 hours studying for each lecture hour.

Sometimes your day will go haywire -- reschedule your study appointments when this happens.

What either makes time of the month cramps worse than usual and radiate down the legs or completely screws up pain tolerance? (I know you're not a doctor, or if you are you're not my doctor; I'm looking for things to research and possibly bring up with my doctor.)
ISO a solution for how, if you're a few time zones off from people (either physically or in posting "schedule"), their posts here slide downfeed sooner than you see them.
