Hello envs lovers,

Due to current events, I would like to inform you that the envs.net project is urgently seeking donations. Unfortunately, for years we have had a rather large deficit between server costs and the donations collected (approximately 1/4 of the costs). I have to cover this deficit out of my own pocket, which is becoming increasingly difficult for me. For this reason, I have decided to launch one last appeal for donations to keep the project fully alive. However, if we still do not reach our donation goal within the next two months, I will unfortunately be forced to shut down the server “srv01.envs.net.” This would affect the services Matrix, Pleroma, mx2, and ns2.

sigh. There are a lot of posts going around right now claiming that #bluesky is feeding data to the various data sniffers that the US government uses for surveillance and that #Mastodon is not.

This. Is. Crap.

Anything you post on Mastodon is nearly as easy to vacuum up as things you post on BlueSky. You should treat *all* social media platforms larger than a Signal group of your college friends + Pete Hegseth as "assumed public." It's slightly more work to slurp up almost all of mastodon but really not that much more.
