Having been here since 2016, I can tell you there is definitely no such thing as a consensus on usage of content warnings on the fediverse. It's a decentralized network that doesn't belong to any one party, so by definition there is no single culture on it. Different corners have different expectations and customs.
this website is fine but also I guess not really a website and I can't watch capital trainwreck itself in real time
#introduction
I'm dylan, a #deaf #gay guy. I have too many interests for my poor attention span, but...politically, I am interested in basic #marxism, #spinoza, with a sprinkle of #deleuze. I primarily communicate in #ASL. I have been in #webdev on and off since 2013 and am in it for the long haul now. My projects include: a #deafstudies political philosophy book in the works, a webapp for deaf vlogs and video texting, and goals for a web agency. I currently work in web & anti-DV advocacy.
Am I a fan of the hashtags thing? No as it feels very antiquated and 2009ish. But I'm curious as to how anti-harassment design informs community-building here. Dunking, name-searches/term-searching, and main characters of the day sure does sap that potential.
Some days I wonder what it would be like to genuinely have a circle of friends that are leftists. Genuine marxists, anarchists, socialist communists, and so on. Anything of that sort. To have a reprieve from the deluge of intensely-liberal communities (e.g. thinking of the deaf community for me here). Is the work basically to radicalize a few and start there? What would that look like? Very curious on this possibility.
I'm still exploring but it seems like Metatext is overall a nicer experience on iOS for mastodon so far.
Mastodon's github has 2.5k open issues and it runs on Rails + React + Node. That seems like a ripe opportunity to dive into open-source development. I've starred it and am considering this because it would be nice to help out on a platform I also hope to actively use too.
199,430 is the number of new users across different Mastodon servers since October 27, along with 437 new servers. This bring last day's total to 608,837 active users, which is without precedent the highest it's ever been for Mastodon and the fediverse.
