Totally loving this Alien(s)-inspired #cyberdeck, the Typeframe PS-85: https://www.typeframe.net

The builder Jeff has posted a bill-of-materials and build guide at the link above.

There's an article about it on the Raspberry Pi site: https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/typeframe-ps-85-cyberdeck/

Fun little weekend project: I have a Fujitsu #ScanSnap scanner which is no longer supported. Their current driver/software works, but is poorly designed. I also share the scanner w/my wife so it'd be nice to have it scan to a network share. But the model I have only scans to a computer, or to Fujitsu/Ricoh's cloud service, which then syncs to OneDrive, DropBox or Google Drive.

Not a big fan of sending my personal documents to the cloud.

Luckily, I have a spare #RaspberryPi 4b…

New #blog post up! I go over some of the inspirations for my first cyberdeck design (work in progress):

I am oddly fascinated by 2ynthetic's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@2ynthetic

I like the way atmosphere they've created around their posts (read each video's description)

New blog post up:

https://strangelyentangled.com/blog/musings-80s-hardware/

Musings on Saturday morning trips to computer stores in the #1980s, and how today's tech just lacks the personality that computers back then had.

I want to change that (for myself) with a modern #cyberdeck that evokes some of that 1980s personality.

Random musings around computing in the 80s and a DIY cyberdeck build

Missing the days of glowing terminals, 80s BBS / hacker / vaporwave aesthetics and tech with personality. So, I'm going to do something about that.

Bringing back the blog for starters: https://strangelyentangled.com

Hope you like the look. Further transmissions to follow.

Nostalgia is an acceptable escape mechanism.

For those of us of a certain age: somebody took EVERY DJ break by Dr. Johnny Fever (WKRP in Cincinnati) and matched it with the music he was announcing. The result is a 3 hour Dr. Johnny Fever show which you can listen to here: https://www.awphooey.com/wkrp

It’s pretty fun and the music mix is good.

Americans *really* need to google "FLQ Canada" before they go on about how great it would be to make Canada the 51st state. Seriously. Go on, google it.

Let's not have history repeat itself, please...
