went down to the hotel lobby to retrieve my dinner delivery in a yoga outfit + snuggly cardigan + face mask.

some men with #RSAC2024 lanyards exited the elevator as I re-entered; they turned back to look at me and one said (very loudly, very pointedly staring at me) to the other, “I was like, did you hire me a hooker?”

if you are a man attending #rsac, please shut that kind of shit down when your peers do it. let’s not let insecurity rule our #security industry.

Taking my kid to school this morning and heard a story on KUOW about AI in #Seattle schools. Every school teacher interviewed was an uncritical AI booster, and the only risk discussed was "cheating" – no mention of how LLMs can mislead.

One teacher boasted about how much less work it was to research historical events, and it made me sad to think that people are relying on a **language model** to convey details and interpret the meaning of historical events.

Join SJSU student storytellers for an evening of personal stories and philosophical insights, told live on stage at the Hammer Theatre's Hammer4 Studio.

These storytellers excavate their own lives for the philosophical nuggets that help us recognize our uniqueness, our connection, and our ability to use the tools of philosophy to re-invent ourselves and make meaning from our experiences. Come hear their life stories, and get inspired to reflect philosophically about your own!

Paying a subscription fee to bag your own groceries and act as a cashier is some Tom Sawyer level fuckery.
No one should ever be forced to abort a wanted pregnancy. No one should ever be forced to surrender a wanted baby.
No one should ever be forced to endure an unwanted pregnancy. No one should ever be forced to bear an unwanted baby.
It really is that simple.

Lyft said in a statement the bill was “deeply flawed” and that the ordinance makes its “operations unsustainable.”

If operations are unsustainable with a minimum wage of $15/hour, you should not be in business.

I do ransomware response for really critical infrastructure - like electric power, water, transit systems, manufacturing, oil for a living. I have to be mostly be emotionally detached, even when lives are at risk - that's triage.

Sometimes, when nobody gets hurt I even raise an eyebrow or raise a glass at a new tactic. But let's make one thing clear:

If you ransom a children's cancer hospital, you are irredeemable scum. You know exactly what you're doing, and you chose to potentially delay or disrupt treatment for suffering little kids.

Ransomware gang seeks $3.4 million after attacking children’s hospital

Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago had announced a cybersecurity incident earlier this month. The attackers have claimed intrusions into more than a dozen other hospitals' networks.
