Join SJSU student storytellers for an evening of personal stories and philosophical insights, told live on stage at the Hammer Theatre's Hammer4 Studio.

These storytellers excavate their own lives for the philosophical nuggets that help us recognize our uniqueness, our connection, and our ability to use the tools of philosophy to re-invent ourselves and make meaning from our experiences. Come hear their life stories, and get inspired to reflect philosophically about your own!

Thursday, April 25, 2024, 8:00 pm-10:00 pm (doors open at 7:30 pm)
Tickets are FREE; purchase at the Hammer Theatre box office or online at https://hammertheatre.vbotickets.com/event/SJSU_Department_of_Philosophy_Presents_Life_Stories_Told_Philosophically/121091

Join the SJSU Center on Ethics for a conversation with Jacquelyn Gill, Associate Professor of Paleoecology & Plant Ecology and Director of the BEAST Lab at the University of Maine, on the ethics of “De-extinction” (i.e., bringing back creatures that have gone extinct).
Maybe Jurassic Park taught us that populating an island with revived velociraptors is a bad idea, but what about (currently) extinct critters like wooly mammoths, or dodos? What are the questions a responsible scientist would need to answer to do a "de-extinction" ethically?
