I used to be a mathematician, now I'm a law-talking guy who helps people buy and sell unregistered securities.

@autolycos @stonekettle Asking for someone to “earn” your vote is a consumer model of voting. I.e., you’re going vote for whomever “sells” themselves better to you.

In my model of voting, we’re all participants in a shared decisionmaking process: do we go down the road of fascism, authoritarianism, and cronyism, or do we go in another direction? I can participate in that decision and register my preference between those two options, or I can decide I’m indifferent to the result and sit out.

@wdlindsy this comic will always live rent free in my head
@autumnjanai My son likes it on toast.

NY Times: After the 2020 election, as some Trump supporters falsely claimed that Biden had stolen the office, many of them displayed a startling symbol outside their homes, on their cars and in online posts: an upside-down American flag. One of the homes flying an inverted flag during that time was the residence of SCOTUS Justice Alito. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/16/us/justice-alito-upside-down-flag.html?unlocked_article_code=1.sU0.dA3q.762sBv-t9c_6&smid=url-share
Supreme Court Justice Alito’s House Displayed a ‘Stop the Steal’ Flag After Jan. 6

An upside-down flag, adopted by Trump supporters contesting the Biden victory, flew over the justice’s front lawn as the Supreme Court was considering an election case.

@annmlipton I love the twist ending.
@RGBes @ZachWeinersmith Gotta come up with a trolley problem that involves killing the inventor of the trolley problem before he had a chance to come up with it.
@ZachWeinersmith I can’t believe you made me visualize a trolley sack-blasting someone. I can’t unsee that now.
@annmlipton Makes for a weird opinion, but I never tire of law and economics getting smacked down.
@webuiltthiscity Thank you for sharing this! I live nearby and somehow had no idea about this survey.
