Associate Professor at Montana State University. I study viruses that infect the nervous system. Our research includes Pseudorabies virus, Herpes Simplex type 1, Measles, and SARS-CoV-2.
One of the things that gets me excited about science is the unexplainable. This is an image of a neuron infected with a Pseudorabies virus that will express fluorescent proteins. It is weird and I have no idea what these extensions are or if they are important for viral replication and spread.
Turns out I'm not so great at social media. But I do like taking pictures of things I cook. Please enjoy the visual delights of this smoked dino rib cut of beef.
Springtime in Montana.

As a recent transplant to this space, I guess I better do an #introduction.

I’m an Associate Professor at Montana State University #montana. My lab researches the mechanisms of neurological infection by viruses. Heavy emphasis on #Herpes simplex virus type 1, but also have collaborative work with Measles neuroinvasion. I jumped on the SARS-CoV-2 bandwagon and can’t seem to get off.

Our research is heavily focused on #fluorescencemicroscopy. We make pretty pictures of infected cells!
