Our analysis discovered that transactions of aged accounts on the underground are trending upwards: there has been a nearly 240% increase in the monthly average of underground posts mentioning aged Amazon accounts.

Specifically because gift cards are items that hold cash value, threat actors see in them opportunity to make and launder money. #darkweb threat actors use automated tools to create and validate card numbers with stored value. We found that the most popular ones target #Amazon, #Netflix, #Spotify, #PayPal, and #Sony #Playstation.

And on underground forums, they buy and sell gift cards in bulk in order to launder stolen funds. Actors sell gift cards by the hundreds at a steep discount in order to emerge with clean money.
