So I guess we’ll all be back over here for the next few days until the bird site fixes itself again…

The "generalizability" problem is easy to grasp: very few research samples and first authors in the beheavioral sciences are from the Global South

Interesting idea.
The institutional support is positive but I’m skeptical about having people belong to a specific organisation’s server.

Maybe servers would be better thought of as guilds/societies with members of many different organisations belonging, with the org sponsoring relevant servers to which their members belong?

@Lieberoth software dev, maybe UX… it’s what you undergrad focussed on
@nancybaym easy enough to get the data with the API but I know many servers disallow mining of user profiles so may be difficult to ethically access all the data necessary for mapping changes over time … a general challenge for #commodon going forward will be meaningful research ok #mastodon without violating server terms of use that (rightfully) enhance user privacy
@simondlr I’ve heard that there are better apps for mastodon on android than the official/default one… seems to be the case on iOS. I’m using Metatext as it offers a ton of features not available on the official app.. may be similar on Android
@lakens this paper (and the accompanying preregistration) by Tobias Dienlin provides a great example of this… especially the justification of the SESOI in the paper https://doi.org/10.31235/osf.io/wmrfx

Looks like #Instagram is trying to get more “authentic” and reciprocal, interactive engagement with their new “candid” feature… interesting trajectory from highly curated posts to ephemeral stories and now candid stories like BeReal… seems like all of their new features are just ripoffs of other platforms… #Snapchat, #TikTok, #BeReal, etc…

Still trying to revive the network in social networking service in the age of social media

@NiklasJohannes good luck! Pity we never got to meet in person at a conference, whereabouts are you going to be based?

I haven't seen this before. Do other publishers do this?

T&F seem to have a dashboard that pools all submissions across any T&F journal. This shows manuscripts in progress at two different journals.

If you click on a submission you get the full dates for every status change.
