Just trying to do some good in the digital world. Sometimes political. Increasingly sweary. Always authentic. (he/him)

Just a reminder that, even if life looks a bit like this to you at the moment despite the positivity of a new year starting, Spring and Summer are on their way.
It’s my birthday today, so I’m taking the day off work to have a music day. Time to blow the dust off this old thing and see if it still works after living in the loft for 10 years!

So good to see this guy earlier this week! It’s been too long, @eatyourgreens!

I’ve caught up with a few long-time web geek friends recently, including very randomly bumping into @Denis outside a cafe in the Cotswolds, which has made me want more informal geek meets like Geek in the Park back in the day.

Headed home after an inspiring Green IO conference in London… Overwhelmed with thoughts, but hopeful, after connecting with passionate technologists from NGOs, startups, gov teams, academia—all united in making our digital world better for the planet. A reminder to start where we are, and that we're stronger together when working on big issues. Thanks to all who shared their knowledge and passion!

Looking forward to Green IO London next week, and meeting some people formerly only known as pixels! Come and say hi 👋

Oh, and I’ll have copies of Tom Greenwood’s book, Sustainable Web Design, to give away!

I like Tettnang, Germany. Found graffiti of a colourful, rainbow planet Earth, with text that says, “Wir sind alle gleich” (“We are all equal”)

Great Scott! Time flies…

“Back to the Future” was first released 40 years ago today!

Having watched the first film many times on TV (probably every Christmas), I still remember going to watch the second film at the cinema with Dad when I was 9. It was the first time I’d been in a cinema, and it felt very special. 36 years later, the franchise is still a favourite of mine.

I’ve come to realise that there’s a difference between being a resident digital nomad and a digital nomad of no fixed abode. Both present challenges, but being resident allows you to establish stability, which is a truly underrated aspect.

Having a productive day hosted by the Innovation and entrepreneurship center Tehnopolis at their Code Hub in Nikšić, Montenegro. It’s the first coworking space I’ve used in 2.5 months of travelling and remote working… and everyone here appears to have gone home at 4pm so I have the whole coworking area to myself!

Watching a truly awesome lightning display drift across the horizon, silhouetting the mountains beyond Salzburg. Nature is humbling.
