Just finished reading Aerial Geography by Mary Caperton Morton and it's fantastic, beautiful elucidation (or less high-falutingly, pretty rock talk). Highly recommended if you like this sort of thing. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36349047

Guitar build and setup complete!

The only original pieces left on this guitar are the pickguard, wood body, the wood & frets of the neck, and the strap pegs. Every other component has been replaced. I also added a tone knob and relocated the pickup switch.

It now plays and sounds vastly improved, and gives that great p90 growl I was looking for. And I also learned tons about both working on my own guitars, and mistakes builders can make when they're making a guitar–and how to fix them! 😁

Just watched Don't Worry Darling, we went in completely unaware of what the movie's about beyond whats on the poster - and that's a great way to experience this movie in particular. 👍👍

Last night's #guitarbuild update - it's alive! Swapped in a set of Lollar P90 pickups for the no-name oem part & finished grounding all the shielding I'd added. A fair bit of patient futzing got it all tucked in; I put on a set of strings and tuned it up. I had set all the saddles at neutral.

I had been nervous about the bridge placement, and worried setting the intonation would suck, but huzzah! When I checked, I'd already gotten very close right off the bench! And the action's AOK too. 😁

Today’s #guitarbuild project happily took a back seat to a long videochat with our sons and a neighborhood dinner date with my lovely partner. Still did a fair amount. I was very pleased with how the bridge swap went, replacing the original that was mounted off-center. I was nervous about positioning the new holes right, I’ve only ever done drop-in replacements; don’t want this #guitar to struggle with intonation.
Today’s updates:
- Golden Age hardtail bridge
- Locking tuners
- Copper shielding
