In March, I joined the growing group of electric vehicle (EV) owners with my Ford Mustang Mach E. Its handling, smooth EV drive train, and large digital panel for Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and native navigation won me over. The Mach E boasts modern safety and convenience features, including backup and 360 cameras, adaptive cruise control, lane centering, lead car spacing, and Blue Cruise for autonomous highway driving. 1/4

As a daily commuter driving 25-30 miles, the Mach E is ideal. I can commute, take side trips, and end the week with 100+ miles of range. Initially, I used fast DC charging stations, costing $20/hour. I soon switched to home charging on a 110v outlet at $0.11/kWh, cheaper than public charging at $0.40/kWh. Later, I installed a 220v/48 amp charging station for faster 10-hour overnight charging, adding value to my home. 2/4

Operating my EV costs $12/week, half the expense of a 25 MPG gas-powered car. Though EVs require home infrastructure investments, they're more energy-efficient, using 80% of energy for propulsion compared to 20% in gas cars. However, environmental concerns about battery production, mining, and transportation must be addressed for EVs' long-term viability. 3/4

As a non-"car guy," I view automobiles as utilitarian. Yet, driving the Mach E has been enjoyable. The novelty of a new car and experience, coupled with a smooth ride, advanced features, and comfortable interior, make my transition to EV driving a pleasurable experience. 4/4
