One of our vendors is making big PR waves with a product announcement. Basically, they finally modernized the content authoring side of their platform. The new feature isn’t part of the core product we’ve licensed for a decade now, and it’s a 40% “uplift” to our annual license if we want it. No, thanks though.

@grantpotter have you seen Elicit? AI for finding papers by asking questions. It also summarizes highlights of the papers. Impressive. https://elicit.org

@[email protected] @mackiwg @lightweight @drchuck even for bigger universities with budgets, institutional processes have a way of smothering innovation. OpenETC is a great example of leveraging institutional resources to enable individual innovation and experimentation. So good. We need to extend that one province to the right…

Welcome refugees from the bad place.

I work at the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning at the University of Calgary, and am also wrapping up a PhD "The Teaching Game: Integrating HCI and SoTL By Adapting Video Game Research Methods".

Kind of living at the intersection of human-computer interaction and scholarship of teaching and learning, and thinking about how the connections between 2 disciplines shape our understanding of teaching and learning.

Now that I’ve paused my PhD for almost a year (pre-candidacy, so not even ABD), I’m no longer sure I’ll unpause it later. And I’m ok with that.
taking a day off to rest a bit. what do I do? check emails. check RSS feeds. send emails. stare blankly at twitter for a bit. time to seriously unplug for awhile. is that still a thing?
