@jonty can you MacGyver a jammer from a bottle of Stella and a gum wrapper?
I hope there is a very special hell for people who break into rooms of little projects that are underfunded and try to do their best to help kids in their community. So much money wasted, so many people burned out just because of a few assholes who try to find valuable things where there are none.

Dear everyone! It would be wonderful if you could mark links to paywalled articles as such – something simple like “($)” is more than good enough. Maybe we can make this part of the quiet Mastodon etiquette?

It is super frustrating to get a link to an article that sounds interesting, go there, click away the cookie banner,* then click away the newsletter popup, finally start reading and then the text fades out.

* I am aware there are tools for that.

@axiixc feels right

@shnhrrsn oh sorry, you meant .containerShape(_:), I misunderstood – yeah, that doesn’t seem be documented, in fact, this is evidently wrong https://developer.apple.com/documentation/swiftui/view/background(_:in:fillstyle:)#:~:text=This%20modifier%20is%20a%20convenience%20method%20for%20placing%20a%20single%20shape%20behind%20a%20view.

I assume if go through the non-insettable code path things work as expected?

background(_:in:fillStyle:) | Apple Developer Documentation

Sets the view’s background to an insettable shape filled with a style.

@shnhrrsn guess Claude didn’t read the docs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My team has a last-minute opening for this position. If you (or someone you know) are still looking for a summer internship and are familiar with iOS/macOS development this is a great opportunity!

Please DM me your resume or feel free to ask any questions.
