And another one! 📺

This pass had a higher max elevation, but the results weren't better than with the previous pass. Sometimes it even seems that shallower passes, despite the longer distance the signal has to travel through the atmosphere, work better.

With a proper cross yagi or even some circular polarized antenna as well as actual tracking this might be a completely different case of course. I don't have any of that and the great thing about @ARISS_Intl is its accessibilty! 🙂

Also check out this beautiful QSL card I found in my mailbox the other day! 😃
This was probably my first contact with the country of Angola, done on 17m using digital modes.

I still enjoy collecting paper QSL and coincidentally I just sent a bunch out after a bit of a hiatus. 📨

Enjoy some @ARISS_Intl #SSTV images fresh from space! 😊

As I went with a handheld setup again, I disregarded automatic frequency correction and just did it by ear like I used to on VHF.
Gotta look into using an Android device for CAT control, that would be awesome.

Very clean reception of the current @ARISS_Intl SSTV transmissions, probably the best I've ever had with a simple handheld setup.
The Doppler shift on UHF is more challenging than on VHF though. And while gpredict could do automatic compensation, it would mean carrying a computer with me, making the setup more bulky. So far, I am recording the audio onto my PCM recorder for later decoding, which has proven useful for several reasons.
