@filtefish Having lived in (a much more mundane early 2000s version of) Cincinnati, Hearn is a favorite. One of those totally implausible 19th century lives that is stranger than fiction.

@parkermolloy I wonder, I feel like each album since the Swimming Hour has been a step further away from those early jazz beginnings. “Jazz album,” feels just as likely to be his homage to Sun Ra or something at this point. I wouldn’t mind a little of that early sound though.

@parkermolloy One of the only “cool thing I knew about before others,” was when the other incarnation of Andrew Bird’s Bowl of Fire (Kevin O’Donnell’s Quality Six) played the office holiday party where I was interning in Chicago in 1999.
He was “locally famous,” at the time, but I was a fan and pretty starstruck. He’s been at it a long time, and I’m getting pretty old…
