I went to a great concert last night. Andrew Bird does these annual "Gezelligheid" concerts here in Chicago every December (minus the past couple years bc COVID).

He is such a wonderfully talented man. If you're not familiar with his music, check it out. I used to work for his manager back in 2008-2010ish. Great to see his continued success.

'Pulaski at Night' - Andrew Bird

@parkermolloy yes! And so much more meaningful in person in Chicago (at night)
@parkermolloy Looks amazing! I used to live in Chicago—Massachusetts now. He doesn’t come to Boston enough!
@parkermolloy I saw him there in 2019 with Madison Cunningham - I remember leaving thinking "was that even real!?" So good!!!
@parkermolloy saw him this summer in Minneapolis with Iron & Wine and it is not lost on me that I drove from Chicago to see a local boy
@parkermolloy one of my favorite Dutch words,
@parkermolloy I've seen him perform but never the Christmas show. Looks like a fun time.
@parkermolloy This looks cool! I'll have to try to remember this for when I'm in Chicago next Christmas+
@parkermolloy One of the only “cool thing I knew about before others,” was when the other incarnation of Andrew Bird’s Bowl of Fire (Kevin O’Donnell’s Quality Six) played the office holiday party where I was interning in Chicago in 1999.
He was “locally famous,” at the time, but I was a fan and pretty starstruck. He’s been at it a long time, and I’m getting pretty old…
@diersen oh man! That is awesome. He mentioned during the show last night that he was busy working on a jazz album, so it might be a bit of a return to the Bowl of Fire-style sound.
@parkermolloy I wonder, I feel like each album since the Swimming Hour has been a step further away from those early jazz beginnings. “Jazz album,” feels just as likely to be his homage to Sun Ra or something at this point. I wouldn’t mind a little of that early sound though.
@parkermolloy I just learned about him today, on Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me! Sounds interesting- i’ll have to investigate. This comment represents a monumental contribution to the Mastodon community.
@parkermolloy I definitely will, other groups/singers/performers you have talked about did not disappoint.
@parkermolloy Thanks :)) He’s coming to Asheville in March. Just bought tickets.
@parkermolloy Saw Him and Bowl of Fire back around 97-98. Small venue too. Amazingly great show. He’s an astonishing musician.
@parkermolloy saw him in SF as part of a Gezelligheid tour some years ago, easily one of the best live performances I have ever seen. He’s truly astonishing.
