Invidious may be in danger. 👀
My friend and I have been working on an #infosec site called #secflux that is an aggregate resource for #news , #articles , #blogs , #trainings , #howtos , #webcasts , #podcasts , and more.
We wanted to create a better way to receive updates, trends, and information about #security topics, while giving ourselves a #creative outlet for own related #content. So, we made a site dedicated to just that!
In any case, the flagship blogpost I’ve cobbled together is about #burnout — A topic many of you might have noticed I bring up quite a bit.

I hope this helps anyone and everyone that might have previously or could be currently experiencing burnout. (It definitely felt great to write it, I hope it feels equally cathartic when people read it.)
Please read, like, share, bookmark the site, and all that jazzy jazz! 🎷
📋 Edit: We do have a newly created Mastodon account for the site! @secflux
We’re working on adding some more social media representation and integrations as we speak!
Oh my God. PLEASE do not get on Meta's new competitor for Twitter.
It harvests mucho data including our health data.
You cannot opt out.
#Meta has already taken info from a Facebook Messenger chat about seeking #abortion in a hostile state, and turned it over for prosecution.
If you're #trans or might ever need to end a pregnancy PLEASE do not use #Threads.
Boost this. Protect your damn friends.
Edit to add documentation: https://www.theverge.com/2022/8/10/23299502/facebook-chat-messenger-history-nebraska-teen-abortion-case

Police in Nebraska have charged a teenager and her mother with a series of felonies and misdemeanors after Facebook gave up the pair’s private chat history in response to a search warrant. The case is a reminder of how users’ digital data can and will be used to prosecute illegal abortions in a post-Roe America.
The company that
- Ran a secret, illegal, manipulative psychological experiment on hundreds of thousands of users
- Has documented proof of working to put competitors out of business
- Literally shopped our data around to other companies, including direct messages
- Conspired to manipulate a presidential election
- Has been proven to support or at least turn a blind eye to genocide
But ooh hey shiny new app let’s sign up
I don’t understand people. I just fucking don’t.
Are you wondering why this place is on so many servers?
There are really important reasons for this, to do with user safety, sustainability, and empowerment of users and grassroots communities. You can read all the reasons here:
On a centralised network like Twitter etc, if owners turn bad, users are stuck there, powerless to do anything. Owners can get away with terrible things.
On decentralised networks, users have real power, and bad owners suffer consequences.
The Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten - IMY) has fined two companies with 12.3 million SEK (€1 million/$1.1 million) for using Google Analytics and warned two others about the same practice.
If you're thinking of using Facebook/Instagram's Twitter clone, here's a reminder of just how invasive it will be of your privacy:

Meta’s new app “Threads” is up pre-order in the App Store. Let’s do a quick check on what data they want from you compared to the official Mastodon app, Mammoth and Ivory.
Spoiler: Meta wants to know and track everything about you, and Mastodon doesn’t want anything.
