I live in beautiful, sunny southern California with my husband of over 16 years, and my retired guide, a yellow lab named Zappa. I am currently working on my Master's degree in special education, and I have a BA in English creative writing. I enjoy reading and writing, of course :), podcasting, mysteries of the mind and spirituality, dogs, baking whenever I feel like it, and chatting with people, having intellectual discussions and meeting old and new friends. So proud to be a part of this space

#AudioMo 2024 day 15: A day late, but never a dollar short. To make up for it, I'm sharing a fun little number introduced many years ago to an online friend who is dearly missed. I became acquainted with Marcel Oates on Twitter, and spent hours on Facetime with him. He had a sense of humor, a gorgeous voice, and loved to talk all things audio, and of course dogs. When he shared this song with me, I about fell out my chair laughing.
I still remember the night I received a text from his sister informing me of his passing. It was actually a rainy night, and I went outside and cried along with the angels, their teardrops falling around me. He was a dear friend who I didn't know for long, but made a significant impact on my life.
One of the things I remember is his humor, and his laugh. We spent so much time coming up with funny concepts and scinarios that we wish to record if we could.
Enjoy this fun little number, and I hope you have an awesome day!
#AudioMo 2024 Day 13: Here's an excerpt of a story I've recently been working on. The excerpt is read by my AI voice made with Eleven Labs. Hope you enjoy! :)
#AudioMo 2024 day 12: Yanny or Laurel?
Do you guys remember Yanny Vs. Laurel? I remember that debate nearly passed over our connected household untouched, until my former roommate and I played that video, and we each realized we heard different things. I never understood how this worked. On some of those clips, I heard Laurel, but on most of them, I was hearing Yanny. Listen to the recording and tell me what you hear. :)
Hope everyone has had a great day!
#AudioMo 2024 Day 10: Recorded with Eleven Labs.
Meet two of our most beloved guide dogs, Zappa Fuffington, and of course, Emmit, the owner of Emmit's Pies. Zappa calls to order a pizza, and there's a little plot twist when he gets his delivery.

A dog is typing on a laptop in the backyard late at night. Could your simple, loveable family pet be the next New York Times best-selling author?
#AudioMo 2024 day 8: My retired guide dog Zappa, an amazing yellow lab from Seeing Eye, will be turning 12 on June 18th this year. In 10 days, we will celebrate another year of being blessed with his presence in our lives. To prepare for this momentous occasion, let's relive his 3rd birthday, with home made dog treats, a Frostee Paw, and a song from Hubby and I. Listen as Zappa goes to town! :) I hope you enjoy!
#AudioMo 2024 Day 3: Listen to my dreadful piano playing. I just got this Native Instruments controller today and I still have so much to learn, but thanks to a helpful friend it's now set up. I came up with this short piano doode on the fly, and I know I suck. I was never taught piano, but enjoyed music so much as a child that I used to write songs. Of course, I hated composing music when people started comparing me to blind artists, or demand I sing on the spot so they could show off theirtalented blind family member. Now, I want to return to music and enjoy it as a therapy, not a career. I'll get better someday, but for now, listen to a couple minutes of horendous piano playing for day 3 of AudioMo.
Hope everyone had a great day today. :)
#AudioMo 2024 Day Two: I was going to share an oragami project for today's post, but I failed two origami projects and have two pieces of paper that are pretty much useless now. Instead, you can listen to me making light of the situation by playing with paper and talking about my frustrations with origami. It's at least a binaural recording so you can enjoy it with headphones. Hope everyone is having a great day! :)
For those participating in #AudioMo, remember that I do have an AudioMo logo available, free for others to use. Hope you enjoy! :)

I've just had my jaws license renewed today now that I've started my new job. I'm playing around with the picture smart with Generative AI, and I'm absolutely loving the experience! I went through my camera uploads folder in dropbox to find some pictures to describe, and I found a picture of my beautiful guide dog, taken at a concert I performed at for the chamber singers class I was attending. This was taken in 2014, which was the first year I got Zappa. He was only 2 years old at the time. The purpose of the picture was to show off his blue bowtie. In the concert, all males were required to wear a bowtie for the performance, and because he was on stage, my colleagues figured he should not be an exception to the rule! They picked out a blue bowtie and a traditional black tiw for dogs, brought them to class and allowed him to choose. He consistantly sniffed the blue bowtie and turned away from the black tie when it was shown to him. Enjoy!

This image depicts a dog, which appears to be a Labrador Retriever, sitting on a carpeted floor. The dog has a light cream-colored coat and is looking directly at the camera with a gentle and focused expression. The Labrador is wearing a blue neckerchief and a brown leather harness that has a light blue strap looped through it, suggesting that the dog may be trained for assistance or service work.

In the background, there are partial views of two individuals. On the left, you can see part of a person wearing blue clothing with their leg crossed over the other. On the right, another person is visible, seated on a chair with a dark ornate design. This person is wearing a black dress and has a bracelet on their wrist. The setting appears to be an indoor room, perhaps an office or a waiting area, as indicated by the formal style of the chair.
