A no-nonsense classical #chess app for iOS and iPadOS, eventually #playdate, originally on #newton. Based in Denmark.

@joshacd Not *actively* at the moment, unfortunately, because I have “focus” on the iPad/iOS version right now. But it's *definitely* going to happen. And I’m going to release it as a developer preview to get it out sooner rather than later.

As a curiosity, I have toyed with sockets and got it working between Deep Green on iOS and Playdate so that in a later preview version you’ll be able to play against the two devices, sitting on the same network. Stay tuned…

@arisummerland You’re welcome. If you come across a #chess problem, like this one for example (https://mas.to/@ic3ix/115640483844945612), you can paste the FEN string (8/3R3q/8/Kp6/1p3N2/8/4P3/1N2k1BR w - - 0 1) into Deep Green by creating a new game (+ button) and tap the Clipboard button. After that, you can try to solve the problem. (Supporting Lichess puzzles directly is on the roadmap.)
@arisummerland Deep Green is a simple offline iPhone and iPad app that lets you play against the engine. See my profile for more. Curious to hear what you think.

@mikebrew Hi Mike, the little time I've had over the summer has been spent on iPadOS 26 changes. Menu bar, toolbar, multiple windows, because those are rather mandatory now. And I don't think I'll be done by launch 🥵 After that I'll be going back to implementing SharePlay. I honestly can't wait!
@stroughtonsmith I’m struggling, with a simple app 😅 (Currently implementing a menu bar.)
This is Checkmate, painted in 1799 painting by German artist Friedrich Moritz August Retzsch. It is often thought to represent Man losing their souls to Satan, but Chess Master Paul Morphy noticed there is still a winning move. The Angel's very pointed look makes more sense; there is still a way out, a bit of hope.
