The broader lesson here is that this all is an object lesson in how neither our media nor our political system is designed to deal w/ a far right authoritarian party.
We wouldn't be at this point if we had two pro-democracy parties & electoral/legislative institutions that weren't deeply anti-democratic & fundamentally broken. But we don't.

Working on syllabus modifications has left me thinking about how much has changed in the past year, and the risks we face in the years to come.
Silicon Valley has a solution for everything, but who do its ideas really serve? Every Thursday, Paris Marx is joined by a new guest to critically examine the tech industry, its thought leaders, and the worldview it spreads. They challenge the notion that tech alone can drive our world forward by showing that separating tech from politics has consequences for us all, especially the most vulnerable. We have to talk about #Brexit.
It is a fallacy to assume #Bregret is a new thing. It has been a feature of the data for a long time. The data has just been misread by many political commentators, political scientists and media.
This is also a means of #introduction. I am a Professor of Economics at University of Warwick studying the #PoliticalEconomy of #Brexit, among others. My work particularly focuses on understanding the role that #Austerity played in bringing about #Brexit.
