@APBBlue I'm currently instance shopping. I started by making a list of the instances people I follow are on, and now I'm looking at the about pages for each of those to see what posted rules and descriptions align with what I want on mastodon.

I've eliminated as many as I've kept in the first round of evaluation so far. (I am getting sidetracked too, oops.)

@BlackAzizAnansi I feel a bit like a frog in a pot of water: there was never one thing that flipped a switch. It was just one paper cut after another because I had enough privilege to insulate me growing up.

I've noticed that as the years passed, the more I would discuss politics, the more I was finding myself leaving behind my moderate acquaintances.

I know of at least one friend I lost when I pointed out opting out of political discussion "everywhere" is often a sign of privilege.
