@fribbledom my dentist made a crown for one of my teeth starting with a scan rather than an impression of the tooth (or the facing ones) must have been at least 5 years ago — so some 3D scanning exists

@JMcE He was right to get the biggest pumpkin for that. It’s the contrast between the big pumpkin and the tiny, simple (but what an expressive mouth!) features that does the job.
