https://www.movetodon.org is like Fedifinder, but prettier, easier to use, and doesn't remind you of the existence of "the Fediverse."

Could I tempt you to boost this post, or get involved in a project to customise Linux for users with special needs/learning difficulties? I have two such children. Adults now (18). I want to do something for my boys and for people like them. 🙂❤️

I've already done a bit, using Ansible, with AlmaLinux and Ubuntu: https://github.com/robpomeroy/BrightOS

Please spread the word - I'm sure someone out there would love to get involved!

mastodon.art has IP-blocked a content crawler that does not respect opt-outs (https://kamu.social/@nikodemus/109387002237512723 ).

Such a crawler can be used by anyone anywhere to read through your profile and display it to other people without your permission. In theory a tool like this would be useful for discovery of people with similar interests, but in practice it /has/ to be implemented with safety concerns at the forefront.

Turns out it is actually quite easy to filter someone's Mastodon timeline by tag: <profile URL>/tagged/<tag> 💡 #FediTips

So here's all my past (and once written also future) projects posts 😊:

And that will also come in very handy to find my own (tagged) stuff again in the future 😅

@Sheril I'm on a small instance, I think 15k last I looked, it's security focused and why I picked it. It hasn't prevented me from discussing or interacting with whoever I like. Everything seems to be working and I know it's a tough job and expense keeping a system up.
@alaric https://keyoxide.org/ - that's a new one for me. I'll have to check it out.

@alaric A mass family and friend migration can be a challenge and I can see the utility of its wide spread use. A need to use in the process of a hotel booking in Italy is why I installed it in the first place. Alternatives : Telegram has a phone only secure chat while
https://signal.org/en/ and https://keybase.io I believe offer that encryption. All of which are no good if who you want to connect with isn't on the other end.
